This past month has been a crazy one, with winds, rain, and snow, but it hasn’t stopped world-class entertainment and events coming to Sparks. This March enjoy a classic cover band at either the Nugget Casino Resort or Baldini’s, swing dance to Big Bad VooDoo Daddy, or enjoy a wine tasting at the new Engine 8 Urban Winery. You can even learn how to make your own beer just in time for St. Patrick’s Day!

March 2: Catch Journey Unauthorized at the Nugget Casino Resort Celebrity Showroom

If you’re a Steve Perry fan, then you may want to catch this Journey tribute band playing at the Nugget on Saturday, March 2. March 15: Big Bad VooDoo Daddy at the Nugget Celebrity Showroom

Put on your zoot suit and your dancing shoes to boogie down to Big Bad VooDoo Daddy at the Nugget on March 15. Enjoy vivacious sounds coming out of saxophone, trumpet, piano, and guitar players as they energetically combine American jazz, Dixieland, and swing favorites. Tickets are $50 and the show starts at 9pm.

March 16: Engine 8 Urban Winery Grand Opening

The City of Sparks’ newest drinking establishment, the Engine 8 Urban Winery is opening its doors on 1260 Avenue of the Oaks Ste. 150 Saturday, March 16, just in time for St. Patrick’s Day. A $25 fee either gets you a souvenir glass and tastings of 10 different wines or a souvenir glass and six craft beer tastings if you’re more of a hops enthusiast. This grand opening is going all day long 12pm-6pm.

March 16, 11am-5pm: BrewChatter — All Grain Brewing

Want to drink beer but not deal with any crowds at the bar on St. Patrick’s Day? No worries, the BrewChatter store has you covered by offering a free beer brewing class. On March 16 from 11am-5pm, learn about the mash, sparging, and pretty much everything about all grain brewing. Have some beer, learn about the equipment, and make your own special brews after learning a bit more about the process.

March 22, 6:30pm and 8:30pm: Fleetwood Mask at Baldini’s

Everyone’s favorite Fleetwood Mac cover band, called Fleetwood Mask, is playing not one but two shows at Baldini’s Casino on 865 Rock Boulevard on March 22. Croon along to “Gypsy”, “Landside”, “Seven Wonders” or other Mac favorites at either the 6:30pm early show or the 8:30pm late show. Tickets are $23 in advance.

March 29, 8pm: Creedence Clearwater Revisited at the Nugget Grand Ballroom

After a month of watching classic rock cover bands, now it’s time to enjoy the original thing. Creedence Clearwater Revisited is set to play at the Nugget Grand Ballroom on March 29 at 8pm. Watch Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees Doug Clifford and Stu Cook play live in concert and joined by a full rhythm accompaniment adding authenticity to the show. Not only does this newly formed band perform timeless hits such as “Born on the Bayou”, “Lookin’ Out My Back Door”, and “Bad Moon Rising”, they put a twist on their music in line with modern day music. This is an event not to miss- tickets are $45-$85.

March 29, 10am: Veterans Memorial Plaza Groundbreaking at the Sparks Marina

A new statewide veterans memorial is going into the Sparks Marina this spring, and city officials would like to invite the community to come out and celebrate in its groundbreaking. Enjoy a flag ceremony, the singing of the National Anthem, and information regarding this special project honoring Nevada veterans who fought for our freedom.
