Halleck Bar Party 

The public is invited to the Annual party at the Northeastern Nevada Museum that starts at 6 p.m. on May 4th. It features a contest for best Old West-styled costume, a souvenir picture booth by Light Chaser Photography, silent auction, and saloon music played on the piano by Connie Muir. A $20 donation is appreciated, and will go toward museum programs. The Halleck Bar Party is a longstanding museum tradition, dating back to 1970 when local ranchers restored the antique bar that was located in the original Halleck Bar. The bar was donated it to the museum on the condition that the museum would host an annual party, serve Beefeater Gin across the bar and toast the donors. Texas singer Andy Hedges will make a brief appearance ahead of his 7:30 p.m, performance at the Western Folklife Center that night.

Andy Hedges Concert

The Western Folklife Center presents Andy Hedges in Concert on Friday May 4th in the G III Theatre. National Cowboy Poetry Gathering performer Andy Hedges will be in Elko to perform a FREE family-friendly event. Everyone is welcome to attend this concert featuring local youth performers and special guests beginning at 7:30 pm. Then at 8:00 pm, Hedges will take the stage to play two 45-minute sets with one intermission. Andy Hedges is a self-taught songster and storyteller celebrating great folk music. His wide and varied repertoire includes classic cowboy recitations, old cowboy songs, dust bowl ballads, and blues.

California Trail Days

The California Trail Interpretive Center will present the 15th annual pioneer reenactment, California Trail Days, on May 19-20, from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The family friendly event is free and open to everyone. Visitors will have the opportunity to tour the pioneer encampment and Shoshone summer camp. Young visitors can learn how to shoot a bow, pan for gold, play pioneer games, and much more.

Cinco de Mayo

The 18th Annual Cinco de Mayo Parade and Festivities will take place on Saturday, May 5th. The day starts with the Parade along Idaho Street at 11 a.m. After the parade, the festivities begin at the fairgrounds with Folklorico dancing, food, music and a coleadero.
