Easter happens to fall on April Fools’ Day this year, but all of the fun events planned in North Lake is no joke. Now that you’ve had a chance to dig yourself out of the multiple feet of snow that Mother Nature dumped on us in Miracle March, check out these fun upcoming events:
Turn your Easter egg treasure hunt into a skiing extravaganza at Diamond Peak on April 1. Eggs are hidden all over the mountain, including golden ones with special prizes in them. The hunt starts when the lifts start turning at 9am! At 2pm Tahoe Resort Ministries will hold an Easter service at the top of Lakeview chair.
After the Easter Egg Hunt at Diamond Peak, enjoy Easter Brunch right on the shores of Lake Tahoe at the Lone Eagle Grille from 10:30am-3pm. Items on the menu include steamed mussels, Dungeness crab eggs benedict, grilled steak and eggs, and pheasant salad sandwiches. Click here to make a reservation.
Work off all of those deviled eggs from Easter with the 4th Annual WinterWonderGrass festival at Squaw Valley. Enjoy three days (April 6-8) of top-notch bluegrass and acoustic roots bands playing on four stages and craft beer tastings all under the snowy mountain peaks of Squaw. Bands that are playing include The Devil Makes Three, Elephant Revival, The California Honeydrops, and more.
With summer just a few weeks away, Brewforia is planning on bringing the warm vibes from Key West to the mountains a bit early. On April 14, Brewforia is flying in some stone crab, serving up rum drinks and boat songs, and roasting a whole hog. Kick those flip-flops on, sit back and imagine that you are on the sunny beaches of Florida!
For dads that have young kids at home and are yearning to get away for a couple hours, consider joining the Dads Beer Club at Incline Spirits & Cigars. On Sunday, April 29 from 5-7pm, dads can get together and talk about the trials and tribulations of fatherhood with the help of some tasty beverages. The Dads Beer Club gets together once a month all summer long!
One place that I always kind of forget about but absolutely love is the Kings Cafe. Located right on the corner off of a roundabout in the heart of Kings Beach (8421 North Lake Boulevard), this cute little shop serves breakfast and lunch items, espresso, beer, and juices. Although seating is limited, it faces Lake Tahoe and items are easy to take away and enjoy at Kings Beach State Park across the street. I recommend the chicken pesto aioli sandwich with waffle fries and a half original/half sweet and spicy chai latte (which provides a perfectly balanced flavor).
